Welcome to Student Arts & Events Council!
What makes a memory special? Is it the people you were with? Is it the thing you did? Is it the place you were? Truly magical memories are a coming together of all of these elements, and when that happens there’s nothing like it. Great memories can lift sprits, can make someone’s day, and remind us of all that’s good.
Here at UMass Boston, The Student Arts & Events Council – SAEC – makes memories every day. We are the signature campus activities board, which created and managed more than 85 events this past year alone! Students who experienced our programming hung out with new and old friends alike, took in amazing events, and saw spectacular destinations. When a University of Massachusetts Boston student participates in one of our events, they make great memories, which means they’re having fun, meeting new people, or learning something new. That’s what SAEC is all about: facilitating entertaining, enriching, and educational programs that will help develop an engaged campus community.
The 2007-2008 academic year was a huge year for UMass Boston’s premier campus wide student activities board – as we created over 15,000 memories. You too can be apart of this amazing team. We’ve developed a program that will give you the opportunity to build 6 different competencies including: marketing, technology, program/event planning, and leadership. Within these 6 competencies are many different projects including: designing marketing materials, developing events, staffing programs, creating a program marketing strategy, and acquiring elementary proficiency in Photoshop and Indesign. Besides these awesome skills which look great on a résumé, SAEC is a great way to meet new people, try things you wouldn’t have thought to try, and to be connected and up-to-date about all of the exciting things happening at UMass Boston.

By the way if you’re a management student, SAEC is a map miles opportunity. So for each semester of SAEC good membership you can earn 50 map miles. Also, we each semester we take two management students as SAEC semester interns. These interns earn 3 credits for their SAEC time. For more info on management opportunities please email us.
