Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak resigns Power

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change. – Barack Obama 2008.

On January 25th, 2011, Egyptian civilians began wide spread protests across the country calling for the end of a 30 year rule by President Mubarak that included repression, political corruption, and mass poverty. Today, February 11th, 2011, 18 days after the first protests, Mubarak resigned and handed power over to the military. Mubarak is the second Arab leader to be overthrown by the people in a month, proving that no regime is safe when the people decide that it’s time for a change. Always remember, the government works for the people, not vice versa.
